Many people ask the same question, how to find ac filters for the home, because, they probably have never had a home they've had to maintain any thing in their home before. Your air conditoner comes with a standard a/c filter in the air handler from the factory. This filter is just a basic filter, that usually will just get you by until you get better quality filters for your home. You can tell the quality of the filter, by removing it from the system. Make certain that the unit is not running while you try to remove the filter, as this can cause the filter to suck upwards and possibly get stuck.
Once the filter is removed, just look at it. You'll know if it is worthy of keeping in or tossing. Don't keep a non functional filter in, please invest in better quality air filter for you a/c system.
You can buy filters, just about anywhere, but we have set up a store on our site that you can go ahead and click on the product you want and it will take you right to it. I've been in the air conditioning industry for many years, so i know what size air filters your air handler needs. If you don't see your size please email us, as we can get you to the right spot to get the size filter you need.
How To Find What Your Air Filter Size Is
To find your air filter size is relatively easy to do. The existing filter usually has the size written on it. First off though, you need to make certain that this filter fits your system correctly. Sometimes there are accidents where the wrong size had been installed. Pull it out, you can put it against the outside of your a/h and see if it is within about 1/2" side to side of the a/h. If so, more than likely it is correct. I say 1/2" because if you look inside the filter compartment, you will see filter guides on left and right side. Usually the depth of the a/h is the same size, though it can vary.
So what you will do is measure the filter [this is if there is no size printed], measure wide and long. Generally, you can find your air filter in the stores, preferably the DIY Hardware stores as they have a larger variety to choose from. Go prepared, Know not only what size air filter you need, but what kind you want.
What Is The Best Air Filter For My Home
This is a great question, as everyone has their own opinion on this topic. Personally, i have seen over the years all that the wrong kind of air filter can do to a home owners a/c system. and it's not something that you as a homeowner wants to encounter. It can become costly in the long run if it is not corrected from the start. It all depends on what you have going on in your home.
